Â黨ӰÊÓreleases new toolkit to help support the transition from early years to school

Leading early years membership organisation the Early Years Â黨ӰÊÓhas today, (28th April), launched a new toolkit to support early years settings who are preparing children to make the transition from early years education to school.

Transitions are a process, not an event – and how early years settings support families to transition into school makes an important difference to children. To ensure that early years providers feel confident in their ability to make children feel safe, heard, understood, and to support their emotional wellbeing, during this process, the Â黨ӰÊÓhas created an easy-to-use document that providers can share with families and use to reflect on the transition process for children starting school.

The toolkit includes a range of practical resources and supporting resources that can help to promote positive transitions, taking into consideration the equally important roles that families, early years providers, schools and the community play.

Recognising that starting school is often one of the biggest transitions in young children’s lives and, as such, requires careful consideration and planning, the toolkit is designed to ensure that the child remains at the centre of the process and is offered the best support to ensure a smooth process.

The toolkit is available to buy now on EYA Central, , priced at £58.30 for members and £106 for non-members.

In addition to the toolkit, the Â黨ӰÊÓruns free sessions entitled Moving on up – supporting families to transition to school. These sessions for early educators provide resources and support to deliver a three-week family learning programme to families in their setting.
