The Early Years 麻花影视welcomes you to Farcet Village Nursery!
24-place Ofsted Registered Setting (Term Time Only)
Our small setting can be located in the quiet village of Farcet - 2.8 miles from the centre of Peterborough & nestled between Yaxley and Stanground
Our Nursery is managed by the Early Years Alliance, and is located in the same grounds as the village Primary School. Whilst we are two separate establishments, we do have a close working relationship - supporting transitions to Reception Class and also shared families.
In our last Ofsted Inspection (September 2022) we were rated GOOD and the Inspector noted: 鈥淐hildren make good progress and enjoy their time in the welcoming pre-school. They play with resources that reflect their interests but also introduce them to new ideas, and ways of life鈥
Aspirations for Learning
We have a team of four staff, who spend everyday ensuring that each of our children arrive to a safe-space that is ready to provoke their imaginations.. thoughts and ideas... through play and exploration!
Throughout time, there have been many famous Theorists who have offered guidance and approaches to the way children learn as individuals - here at Farcet village Nursery our Aspirations for Learning reflect those theories that link with where we are and what we offer:
Frederick Frobel: Froebel believed that children's Physical, Intellectual, Social and Emotional Development were very important; and that all children should be free to explore, discover and express their creativity - learning through play and developing at their own pace...
Lev Vygotsky: Vygotsky produced the Zone of Proximal Development - also known as the 'Scaffolding Approach'. All children come with what they know and what is familiar to them - but with adult support and offerings of different play and learning, children have the opportunity to grow and learn more!
Margaret McMillan: McMillian (also known as the McMillan Sisters) expressed great importance in family and community being part of a child's learning; and that all children have a right to education no matter their social status
Our Aspirations and our Children's Interests are the main focus of our weekly planning - with guidance from the EYFS and other tools for supporting development such as WELLCOMM.
A Day with Us...
- All Children are encouraged to self-register upon arrival, and hang up any coats/jackets on their chosen peg - promoting independence skills
- As part of British Values, we have Golden Rules that support us in learning boundaries and respect for each other
- Our children can move between the room and garden at their leisure, finding varied activities to support their interests and learning development
- Our garden is open for 4+ hours a day, where children can explore nature and gardening, in support of health and well-being
- We provide our children with healthy snacks which our children are able to self-select (subject to season and allergies/dietary requirements) with unlimited access to Milk and Water
- Focus on Communication & Language Skills through stories, songs and rhymes and scaffolding language (building vocabulary)
- Play is a continuous mixture of both Adult-Supported and Child-Led Play
- Staff tap into the local community and explore this with all of our children
- Staff have great relationships with local help and support in the County, should a child need a little extra support
- An online Learning system known as Famly that you can tap into 24/7 and track what's happening in our Nursery, as well as add your own home observations!

If you require all day care, then our sessions run 9-3 with the above bracketed information in place.

2. How much are your sessions?
In line with cost of living, being able to meet safe ratio guidelines, and trying to maintain affordable childcare for all families our fees as of April 2025 are:
Mornings 拢24.00 (additional charges are being rolled out for snack as per latest DFE guidance)*
Afternoons 拢22.50
All Day 拢45.00
*At this point, the snack charge is voluntary - Parents can also provide their child with a small (healthy) snack from home - this charge will be closely monitored and reviewed before the end of Summer Term
Please note that if you are not eligible for funding in the first instance, then a deposit of 拢50.00 is required before your child can start.
3. Do you provide hot meals?
Whilst we are not able to provide children with hot lunches, we do offer warm snacks 鈥 especially in the colder months (toast, porridge, beans, spaghetti etc.)
4. Do you cater for allergies and intolerances?
Yes, we do! When you first join us, your Key Person will be keen to listen to the dietary/health requirements your child has.
They will discuss this with our Management team and ensure that a robust Health Care Plan and Risk Assessment is put in place before your child starts.
If your child requires the administration of particular medications that are less familiar, then we will ensure that we take up training/information from your child鈥檚 care provider to ensure that we are all clear in our understanding and ability to administer when needed.
5. Who will be looking after my child?
Every child who joins us will be allocated a Key Person. They are responsible for tracking and supporting your child鈥檚 learning, and sharing this information with you at regular intervals.
We meet legal ratio requirements every day, and all staff have an enhanced DBS that is updated yearly.
Staff also have regular supervision with Management to review and plan further progression and personal development
6. How quickly can my child start?
We aim to start all new children as soon as possible! If we are to apply for funding, this may delay us slightly 鈥 but you will be offered 3 stay and play sessions (free of charge) so your child has some time to explore and build a sense of comfortability within our care
Before your start date is decided you will also meet with your Key Person to carry out initial starting points and any outstanding paperwork for registration purposes
